E-bike Storage
- If you plan to store your bike for an extended period, occasionally turn on the power to keep the electrical components in good condition.
- Electric bike components are sensitive to extreme temperatures. Store the bike in a cool, dry place away from high humidity.
- A garage or outdoor shed can be a good storage option depending on where you live and the available space. The ideal storage temperature is between 32º and 68º Fahrenheit.
- Storing an e-bike outdoors is not recommended, as corrosion and degradation are nearly inevitable. A bike cover is only a temporary shield and cannot fully protect the bike from weather elements during long-term storage.
- While storing the bike in a garage or shed may help keep it dry in the winter, high humidity is the biggest enemy of electric bikes and their components. Humidity can lead to rust and corrosion.
- To prevent such issues, consider investing in a bike cover for extra protection, especially if your garage or shed is still susceptible to environmental factors.
